Varsity Softball · Valley to face Waukee for 5A State Softball Championship

The Valley High School varsity softball team will play in the championship game of the Class 5A Iowa high school state softball tournament at Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge.

The Tigers, who are the No. 7 seed at this year’s tournament, defeated sixth-seeded Iowa City High 4-2 in the semifinals Wednesday, July 24. Valley upset No. 2 Fort Dodge 3-0 in the quarterfinals Tuesday, July 23.

The 5A championship is set for 8 p.m. Friday, July 26, where the Tigers will take on top-seeded Waukee. The Warriors defeated No. 5 Johnston 3-1 in the semifinals and No. 8 Ottumwa 8-0 in the quarterfinals. During the regular season this year, Valley and Waukee split the series 2-2.

For fans who plan to attend Friday’s championship game, tickets cost $10 and are available for purchase online through the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union. Parking is north of the complex and costs $5 per car.
