Tigers News · Information About Valley-Waukee Food Drive Challenge

There’s nothing like a little friendly competition, especially when it benefits area communities and the state of Iowa!

The student councils at Valley and Waukee High School are challenging each other to a food drive. For those part of the West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS), or anyone who wants to be included in Valley’s total, here’s what you need to know:

When can I donate?

Sept. 16-20.

What types of items do I donate?

Non-perishable foods, like canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, cereal, applesauce and spaghetti sauce. No glass, please.

Where can I donate?

Boxes will be placed outside Valley’s three main entrances — the Staplin Performing Arts Center, the bus concourse, and the cafeteria — during the donation period. Contributions can also be brought to Room 2349, Ms. Krois’ class.

Additionally, donations can also be brought to the Valley vs. Waukee varsity football game on Friday, Sept. 20, at Valley Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and boxes will be placed at stadium entrances.

Where are my donations going?

All of Valley’s proceeds will go directly to Combat Hunger, which supports the Food Bank of Iowa.

What if I have more questions?

You can contact Tory DeVries, Valley’s student council sponsor, at 515-633-4326 or devriest@wdmcs.org.
