Over 90 West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) students in grades 1-8 have signed up for the Valley High School Girls’ Tennis Fall Clinic, which began Sept. 10.
This is the third year of the fall tennis clinic, said Mike Conlon, head coach of the Valley varsity girls’ tennis team.
“We’ve had an outstanding start to our camp with 92 girls who have signed up to learn the game of tennis,” Conlon said, noting that just 35 students registered last year.
The clinic is free, and takes place from 4:15-5:15 p.m. at the Valley Southwoods Freshman High School Tennis Courts. Remaining sessions are Sept. 16, Sept. 19, Sept. 24, and Sept. 26.
“Our local West Des Moines tennis community has been instrumental in helping to create a wonderful, efficient, and safe environment for our kids to learn the game,” Conlon said. “Our camp focus is to help grow the game of tennis, and with four sessions remaining, I think we’re off to a great start.”
