Valley High School junior Caleb Corbin wrestled for the Class 3A 152-pound title on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Iowa high school state wrestling tournament.
Corbin fell 3-2 to Waverly-Shell Rock’s Evan Yant, placing second in the weight class.
Earlier Saturday, C.J. Stillman earned third place at 220 pounds, and Blake Underwood finished in fourth at 182.
Valley sent six wrestlers to the state tournament this year: Corbin, Stillman, Underwood, Ryan Myers (170), Jack McCabe (195), and Bryan Jurado (285).
Additionally, Valley won its district meet, and qualified for the state dual tournament, which happened Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Wells Fargo Arena. The Tigers captured a seventh-place finish at state duals.
Great job to all Valley state wrestlers this week, and for a terrific 2019-20 season!
