The Valley High School varsity boys’ basketball team will take on Des Moines North on Friday, Feb. 28, in the semifinals of Class 4A, Substate 7 play.

The game is set to begin at 7 p.m., and will be played at Coldiron Fieldhouse.

Because it is now the postseason, tickets cost $6. No student activity tickets or passes are valid.

Valley enters substate action with a 15-6 record. Des Moines North is 11-10, and recently beat Marshalltown in 72-67 in double-overtime to advance to Friday’s game.

Senior Jake Auer is the Tigers’ top scorer, averaging 16.6 points per game. He’s shooting about 47 percent from the field, 41 percent from 3-point land, and nearly 90 percent from the free-throw line. Auer leads the team in assists (75) and steals (33) as well.

Junior Ty Walker is averaging 14.3 points per game, and sophomore Eli Raridon is adding 12.3 points per game. Raridon is the Tigers’ best rebounder thus far, crashing the boards for nearly seven rebounds each time out.

As a team, Valley is scoring nearly 64 points per game, is shooting almost 46 percent from the field, and is 35 percent from behind the arc.
