Valley Girls Basketball All Conference

The Valley High School varsity girls’ basketball team had five players earn all-conference recognition for their efforts this past season.

Seniors Alex Honnold and Grace Plummer were named first team all-CIML Iowa. Honnold led the team with 13.3 points per game, which ranks fourth-best in the conference. She shot at a 51 percent clip from the field, nearly 42 percent from behind the arc, and almost 80 percent from the free-throw line. She also had team-highs in rebounds (6.6 per game) and steals (54).

Plummer was Valley’s second leading scorer. She averaged 12 points per game, which was fifth-best in the conference. She shot nearly 40 percent from the field, 34 percent from 3-point territory, and nearly 79 percent from the charity stripe. She ranked second on the team in rebounds per game (5.5) and assists (47).

Sophomore Meredith Rieker collected second team all-conference honors. She averaged 10.3 points per game, and ranked second on the team with 42 steals.

Junior Hayley Chappell and senior Maggie Hall picked up honorable mention all-conference recognition.

Chappell led the team in assists this season with 60. She averaged about four points per game.

Hall averaged nearly five points per game, shooting 36 percent from the field. She also dished out 35 assists this season.

Valley finished the 2019-20 season with a 14-8 record.
