The Class 5A sixth-ranked Valley High School varsity volleyball team hosed a quadrangular on Thursday, Oct. 1, which featured tough CIML opponents as part of the mix.
The quad included No. 5 Ankeny Centennial, No. 11 Johnston, and Southeast Polk. Here’s how the Tigers performed in each of their matches Thursday:
- Valley def. Southeast Polk 2-0 (25-17, 25-17)
- Valley def. Ankeny Centennial 2-0 (25-20, 25-22)
- Valley def. Johnston 2-0 (25-20, 25-20)

Valley Triangular on Saturday
Following Thursday’s quadrangular, Valley will host a triangular on Saturday, Oct. 3, again at Valley Fieldhouse. It will begin at 10 a.m. The schedule for Saturday’s matches is as followed:
- 10-11:30 a.m.: Valley vs Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln
- 11:30 a.m..-1 p.m.: Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln vs. Iowa City Liberty
- 1-2:30 p.m.: Valley vs. Iowa City Liberty

About the Tigers
The Tigers go into Saturday’s slate of matches with an 11-4 record.
Going into Thursday’s quad, junior Hayden Kubik led Valley with 138 kills, a mark that was tied for ninth in all of 5A. She also since recorded a team-second-best 13 blocks (alongside sophomore Brenna Gion). Senior Katie Stevens had collected a team-high 131 assists, sophomore Olivia Lombardo had notched a team-high 96 digs, and senior Anna Bernhard had tallied a team-high 15 blocks.
