Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Three Valley Cross Country Runners Named Academic All-State

Congratulations Valley High School boys’ cross country runners Adam Hisel and Alex Traynor as well as Valley girls’ cross country runner Lauren Schulze for being named academic all-state by the Iowa Track Coaches Association.

To be named academic all-state, the requirements are:

  • Must be a senior.
  • 3.8 or higher cumulative grade-point average.
  • A state meet qualifier or finish in the top 30 at a state qualifying meet.
  • Schools must be paid and current members of the IATC.

At the 5A state boys’ meet, Traynor was the first on the team to cross the finish line, placing 53rd with a time of 17:02.8.  Hisel came in in 87th at 17:43.7. The Tigers placed 15th overall at state.

At the 5A state girls’ meet, Schulze finished second overall with a time of 18:18.3, leading Valley to a runner-up team performance. She has signed to run next fall at Illinois State University.
